Hi! I’m Bob Bennett and I love to hike, especially in remote areas. The feeling of being on top a mountain, looking down and knowing that your car is on the nearest road at least four hours away is great! One of these days, I plan to do some longer hikes. For now, I’m working on reducing my “base weight” by using a strategic eating plan. I like the idea of hiking light and the easiest way to reduce my weight is to hike more and eat less. I’ll worry about the weight of my gear later.
The Pacific Northwest is a great area to live. Some of the finest trail hiking is found in the Columbia River Gorge, Gifford Pinchot National Forest and surrounding areas. The views are astounding, the exercise is rewarding, and there are plenty of like-minded people to meet along the way. There is nothing like the feeling of being close to nature in a remote area. For families, there are plenty of great places close to home that can provide a great experience for adults and children alike. Check out the growing list of trail descriptions available on this site.
